Here is the friendly and simplified version of the article in English, adapted specifically for Bitsa users:
You might have heard terms like "PSD2 regulation" or "SCA," but let’s put the technical jargon aside. At Bitsa, what matters most to us is that your money stays safe and that nobody—except you—can use your card.
What is the Secret Code or SCA Key?
Think of it as a second lock on your front door. To get in (or in this case, to pay), having the key (your card details) isn't enough; you also need this personal code that only you know.
This is a mandatory security system across Europe. It ensures that even if someone manages to steal your card details online, they won't be able to spend a single cent because they won't know your secret code.
How does it work in real life? (Simple Example) đź›’
Imagine you are buying a pair of sneakers from an online store:
When you go to checkout, the store will ask for your Bitsa card details.
Immediately, you will receive an SMS on your phone with a short code (this is sent by Pecunpay, our card issuer).
The payment screen will then ask for two things:
The code you just received via SMS.
Your Secret Code (SCA Key) that you created in the Bitsa app.
Done! Your payment is confirmed 100% securely.
How do I create my Secret Code for the first time? 📱
If you haven't set it up yet, the app will prompt you automatically. It’s very quick:
Update your App: Make sure you have the latest version of Bitsa installed.
Confirm it’s you: Enter the code you receive via SMS and confirm your phone number (always use the same one you used to register).
Choose your key: Create your Secret Code.
Security Tip: It must be at least 8 characters long and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, and a number.
Example: Bitsa2026 (But don't use that one—make yours unique!).
A quick tip: Once you've created it, log out of the app and log back in using your email and password. This helps the system sync your new security settings perfectly!
When will Bitsa ask for this code?
We won't ask for it for everything—only for the important stuff:
Online shopping.
Sending money to friends.
Making bank transfers.
Changing sensitive personal details in your profile.
⚠️ Watch out for scams!
Your Secret Code is FOR YOUR EYES ONLY. Bitsa will never ask for it over the phone, via email, or through social media. If someone asks for it claiming to work for Bitsa, do not trust them! This code should only be entered inside the official app or on the secure payment screen when shopping online.
